Beast Coast Updates
Mt. Toby race updates (3/24/25).
I've gotten a few questions from folks, so thought it would be great to pass along a few key details to y'all:
PLEASE CARPOOL - looks like registration numbers are strong this year (yay!)…which means parking will be TIGHT! Please take the time NOW to find others in your area to carpool with to the race.
Distance changes - I know that some folks are interested in potentially changing the distance they are running. That's A-OK! Just let us know, and we'll adjust your registration (or, even better, do it yourself if you have a runreg account by selecting ‘edit my registration’). You have the option to change your distance up until the start of the races on Saturday April 5th…so know that you've got options. Of course, if you know sooner than that's helpful for us (planning-wise) to know when you know.
Early starts - I just want to reiterate to all that there is an option to start early if you are at all concerned about cut-off times (this will be most applicable for 50k runners, but open to all!). I will be at the site by 5:30am to check in folks who want to start early - typically folks opt for a 1 hour or 30 min early start. (*Just remember that we strongly recommend anyone taking an early start knows the course or downloads the map to their watch/phone, and carries extra water at the start.)
Poles - some folks have asked about if it's ok to use poles. The answer is YUP! If you decide to use poles, you won't be the only runner doing so…but obviously it's a personal choice.
Race courses - the 50k course has been updated for this year's edition. The modified route has been updated on the website, so you can see the elevation profile and .gpx file. (*Information is available on all the courses on the race website! We will mark the courses, obviously, but it never hurts to have a back-up plan of downloading the .gpx file to your watch or phone…just in case you zone out and miss a turn!)
Volunteers - we are going to need some help to support each of you through your Mt. Toby journey. If you have a friend or family member who might be willing to come to the race and help out…please encourage them to do so! Volunteer sign-up is here. Thanks to those who have already committed to helping out!
Remember that there's a lot of information about the race (including maps, .gpx files, and such) on the race website - so check that out for info…but reach out if you have questions not answered there.
